This tour will highlight the endangered White-Bellied Herons, which can be spotted along the shores of Pho Chhu (Male River) and Mo Chhu (Female River). Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu are home to a large number of migratory water fowls. Birding in this area during the cool seasons is quite remarkable.

Day 01: Arrive Paro
Arrive Paro by Druk Air. A representative from BHUTAN BY EXPERTS will receive and guide you to the hotel. Then you will visit the National Museum of Bhutan, Ta Dzong. Lunch in Paro. In the early evening, we will visit Paro Dzong (fortress) and after, stroll around Paro town. A welcome dinner & drinks (you can try the local Bhutanese drink, Ara) will be a fitting end to your first night in the Kingdom.
Day 02: Paro – Thimphu
Very early in the morning we will drive to Chele La pass with your packed breakfast. Chele La is the highest pass where there is a thoroughfare vehicles can access in Bhutan. On the way, we may see the following birds:

Besides the chance to see these birds, you can also see a beautiful view of Mount Jhomolhari & Jichu Drake on clear days from the pass. There are many prayer flags here at the pass. We will have our breakfast near the pass. After enjoying bird watching, prayer flags and mountain views on clear days, we will drive back to Paro. We will take rest in the hotel for about 1 hour. We will then take an excursion to Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest). We will hike up the trail to the Taktshang’s viewpoint. We will have lunch near the viewpoint at the Taktshang cafeteria.
In the afternoon, we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1.5 hours. In the evening, we will stroll around Thimphu town and explore handicraft shops for authentic Bhutanese souvenirs and gifts for your friends and loved ones. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Thimphu
After breakfast, we will hike to Cheri Monastery, and where on the way up, we may spot the following birds:

Maroon Backed Accentor
We will have packed lunches, and after visiting Cheri, we will drive back to Thimphu and do some city sightseeing. We will visit the Memorial Chorten, a weaving center, a Bhutanese paper factory, and the main post office where you can purchase exotic beautiful Bhutanese stamps. The post office have bird stamps too which are very collectible and can be good souvenirs for your bird lover friends and family. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Thimphu -Punakha
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Punakha over Dochu La pass (3,150m). We will stop at the pass, and on clear days, you can soak in the breathtaking panoramic view of the eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. You will also have time to take photos of the 108 small chortens (stupas). The following birds species can be found on our way to Punakha:

Lunch will be at Lobesa. Then, we will take a gentle hike to Chimi Lhakhang. This temple is also known as “The Temple of Fertility.” The hike will take about 25 minutes, and the trail goes through beautiful paddy fields. After, we will drive to Punakha and visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Punakha
In the morning, we will take you along the Mo Chhu valley side. The following birds can be found here:
Day 06: Punakha – Paro
After breakfast, we will drive back to Paro via Thimphu. On reaching Thimphu, we will revisit the city by strolling around town, giving you time to shop. Lunch at Thimphu. Then, we will continue our journey to Prao. In the evening, we will stroll around Paro town, providing you more shopping and photo snapping opportunity on your final night in the Kingdom.
Day 07: Depart Paro
After a leisurely breakfast, you will transfer to the airport for flight to onward destination.
